Payment ProcessorsTo sell products online you'll need to be able to able to take credit card payments, here you have two options either a third party payment processor or your own merchant account. I wouldn't recommend getting a merchant account of your own as the setup fee is substancial and together with the monthly fees will mean you'll have to make a lot of sales before you ever see any profits. There are several third party payment processors that will allow you to take credit card payments online. These include PayPal, There's a descripion of their service on the Getting Paid page, you can view it by clicking on that link to the right. Another well respected one to consider is Clickbank as this payment processors has some exceptional extra features in that they have a built in affiliate network. Not only can they take credit card payments for you, they will also include your product description on their Marketplace, allowing any one of their account holders to recommend your product for an affiliate commission, a percentage of the sale price you choose from 30-70%. When an affiliate sale is made ClickBank (after taking their fees) will instantly pay the commission to the affiliate's account and the rest into the seller's account, they then pay the account totals by check to the accountholders twice monthly on the 1st and 15th as long as the amount is above $100 to make it worth cutting the checks. So not only do they run your affiliate program for you and pay your affiliates their commissions without you having to lift a finger, you can also recommend other sellers products as an affiliate youself. Again their is no cost for opening an account at ClickBank to become an affiliate, they do charge a fee of $49.00 to list your products, then like PayPal just charge a similar fee for each sale. At last count there were 10,000 accountholders and growing at ClickBank, (not all sellers) so you would instantly have the potential of that many affiliates selling your products for you. A third popular option is 2CheckOut who charge a one time $49.00 to open an account and then still no monthly fees just a similar amount per sale. |
